Captains Bay
Captains Bay is on the north coast just before the eastern tip of the island. This quarter mile stretch of perfect white sand is bounded on the left by a rocky shoreline where Atlantic waves break spectacularly. There is one home, a large one, at this remote spot. we do not recommend swimming at Captains Bay: the surf can be dangerous (and never swim alone at a remote beach.)
Starting from the airport parking lot, take the only exit and turn left, then go straight past Island Rental Cars and the National Bank. Continue straight through the traffic light and on through Stoney Ground and Little Dix toward Island Harbour. Stay on the main road until it splits in two after the cement plant. Turn left and continue over the hill and into Island Harbour village.
As you leave the village, you have two choices.
One choice is to turn left on Harbour Ridge Drive (toward Hibernia Restaurant). This road is paved for a while, then gravel. Go straight, then bear slightly right and follow the new telephone poles (which lead all the way to Captains Bay). When you get over the hill you will see the beach on the left. As the road switches from a rocky surface to sandy, take the first left, which goes right down to the beach.
Another choice is to continue up to the top of the hill and turn left on a gravel road after the Island Supermarket (toward Junks Hole). If you turn left in all cases, you will reach Captains Bay in 2.4 km (1.5 miles). Avoid tempting right turns at .5 km, .8 km, 1.9 km and 2.2 km.

Caribbean : Anguilla
Anguilla Leeward Islands Coral island. 91 km2 (35 sq miles) in area, some 250 km (155 miles) east of Puerto Rico. The interior of the island is flat, dry and scrubby, pockmarked with salt ponds and devoid of dramatic scenery. Anguilla is one of the most paradise like islands in the Caribbean. The northernmost of the Leeward Islands, 145 miles east of Puerto Rico , the island is 16 miles long and 3 miles wide. Meads Bay
Meads Bay is Anguilla’s most popular Beaches. Meads Bay is certainly not crowded - some of the hotels are a good five-minute walk from their nearest neighbor. The bay is backed by a salt pond for most of its length. There are annual boat races from the beach on the first Thursday in August.
Windward Point
Pack a lunch and take a hike along the rocky coast line of Windward Point or the long road that runs from North Side all the way to Island Harbour. At the far eastern tip of Anguilla is a small hill with panoramic views in all directions. This is Windward Point. earby Windward Point Beach is wild and exciting, being open to the Atlantic. While a little rough for swimming, it is great for exploring. Wear hiking boots and explore the eastern tip of the island. Climb the rock at the end of Anguilla and get an excellent view
Shoal Bay West
A much quieter beach than its easterly namesake, but equally beautiful with a perfect crescent shaped bay, fine white sand with sometimes exposed rock, good swimming, and views to St Martin. There is a beach restaurant and two of Anguilla’s architecturally striking resorts.
Little Harbour
Little Bay is located near Crocus Bay and the Valley, but it feels very secluded and is a favorite spot for boat excursions and snorkeling. Little Harbour is the most protected bay in Anguilla, but very shallow. We sailed our Laser sailboat here when we didn't know what we were doing and needed to practice tipping it over and righting it. The bottom is more like a lake bottom than the bright white sand of most bays.
